“Separate but equal, the intrinsic message of “Vogue Black,” is a historical concept all too familiar to black people, and you don’t have to have lived in America, or be American, to feel the pangs of this division and empathize with this legacy of injustice and bigotry." - Jason Campbell ( of the JC report)
The Italian issue of the iconic fashion magazine isn’t exactly known for having the right idea about how to be diverse, and they’re frequently under fire for seemingly racist editorials. But the most recent offense just might be the worst one of all. In their coverage of Pitti Uomo in Florence, the site launched a new column in the “Vogue Black” section of their website called “Voguista Black” where they exclusively published all their images of black street style stars. It’s hard to say what misguided judgement could have led to such a strange and offensive decision, but it’s clear that the editors of Vogue Italia‘s website don’t see the fashion world through color-blind glasses.
While the Beth Hardison’s diversity coalition is doing positive work to promote more diversity in fashion and help put an end to runway racism, it’s times like this that make one wonder just how long change will take–both in the fashion world and the world at large. The fact of the matter is that crafting a more diverse fashion world will have to be an institutional change that comes from the top–and right now the folks at the top are not a representative group, and they have little incentive to change their ways.

Its no secret that women can go shopping and be out for 5 hours looking for one pair of earrings to go along with an outfit, or the perfect neck piece to set off a dress; it’s been proven that the most popular accesory for women is a sky high pair of heels. What about pregnant women? what is their best accessory? Maybe it's the glowing skin, or the accelerated hair growth; maybe in civilian life, but in Hollywood Of course it’s the growing fetus within them.
Recently we’ve seen pregnancy style change drastically with the likes of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Tamar Braxton showing off some stellar red carpet and casual looks, all while expecting. Let’s take a look at some of their best “expecting looks” .
The bigger , the better right? Kim Kardashian takes the award for “Sexiest Mommy to Be”. Even while pregnant Kim always looked as beautiful as ever. Here she’s wearing a crocheted lampshade dress, with match heels.
Ciara who surprised all recent with her announcement has been hiding her baby bump in furs.
Here Ciara is pictured in a Bibhu Mohaptra fur coat at a recent Vogue event. Talk about keeping the baby warm. Ciara takes the award for “Most High Fashion Baby Bump”
Tamar Braxton was another one of my favorites, she wore what a lot of women pregnant wouldn’t, here she kept it simple with a Black one shoulder gown with a sheer shoulder for “extra support”. Tamar get’s the award for “Most Camera Ready Mom to Be”
Beyonce had the world in a frenzy when she announced her pregnancy, some thought it was a publicity stunt, but logical minded people will see that Bey was happy and pregnant and already had Blues name picked out before she was even born. Here at a perfume launch party King B stuns in a sequined blue tunic dress and a matching royal blue sequined blazer. Let’s name her ….you know what she has enough nick names..she’ll be “Queen Baby Bee”
Kerry Washington also recently announced her pregnancy and has definitely been consistent with her red carpet styles, making sure to show off her bump. Here pictured at the SAG Awards Washington rocks a pink beaded crop top and a Prada skirt. We’ll give her the “Dare Devil Mommy Award”

Amanda Bynes has been reported to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising at the Orange County campus in California. The 27 year old child star was reported to have enrolled at FIDM earlier this month. Since her release from a California treatment facility, Bynes has been trying to get her life on track, starting with rebuilding her family base. #WayToGoAmanda
I've seen Kerry look SO much better. I don't care for the fabric of the skirt or the beading of the crop top. I do love her plush pink lip. - TheeBlackSocialite
